O.G. SKATER SKATE ZINE

ATTITUDES & AXLE STALLS: The 25¢ Blueprint

Found in the archives: “ACTION MAGAZINE.”

Price tag: 25 cents.
Date: The glorious past. (1986 to be exact)

It looks like it was assembled with scissors, glue, and unbridled chaos. But look past the crooked staples and the grainy toner. This isn’t just a collector’s item; it’s an operating manual for a Teenage Spirit driving a Vintage Chassis.

Back then, “Action” meant recklessness. Today, “Action” means defiance. It means refusing to park the car just because the odometer rolled over.

Here is the translation for 2025:

1. “Attitude Problems”

The cover screams it in sharpie marker: Attitude Problems.

  • 1986: It meant giving the finger to the security guard at the mall.
  • 2025: It means giving the finger to Time.

The world wants you to slow down. It wants you to play golf. The “Attitude Problem” is that voice in your gut that says, “Not today.” That isn’t a mid-life crisis. That is Rebelling Against the Rust.

2. The Axle Stall (The Anchor)

Zoom in on that grainy photo of the backside axle stall.

  • Then: A pause before the next air.
  • Now: The ultimate weapon.

The Axle Stall is high-precision and grounded. It’s that satisfying metal-on-metal crunch that vibrations through your feet and tells you: I’m still here. You don’t need to fly six feet out to feel the stoke. You just need to lock in.

3. The Footplant (Smart Style)

The “Boneless” and the “Footplant.”

  • Then: A way to show off.
  • Now: Strategic Physics.

Planting a foot isn’t “cheating.” It’s using the chassis wisely. It keeps you connected to the transition, looks incredibly rad, and keeps the flow going without punishing the suspension. It is low-impact, high-style rebellion.

The Mission

This zine reminds us that skating wasn’t about perfect scores. It was about the session.

So, keep the “Attitude Problems.” Grind the Axle Stalls. Ignore the birthdate on your ID. We are old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.

Rebel Against the Rust.
